Leviathan of Parsonstown

The Leviathan of Parsonstown is a historic 72-inch reflecting telescope constructed in the 1840s by William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, at Birr Castle in Ireland. At the time, it was the largest telescope in the world and was instrumental in the discovery of spiral structures in galaxies, such as M51.
